Strategic transport planning
Transport is often decisive in whether land is allocated for development and how much it can accommodate. Odyssey advises landowners, promoters and developers on transport strategy for sites being promoted through local plans, and for larger or phased schemes.
We start with early advice on access and movement: where a site can connect to the highway network, how people will reach it on foot, by cycle and by public transport, and what that means for the scale and form of development.
From there we prepare the transport evidence to support a site through the local plan process, including representations to consultations, and discuss the proposals with the local highway authority and National Highways. We identify the infrastructure a scheme is likely to need and when, so that its cost and phasing can be built into viability work.
This early strategy then forms the basis of the Transport Assessment when a planning application is made.
