Transport assessments and statements

Odyssey prepares Transport Assessments and Transport Statements to support planning applications. Which one is needed depends on the complexity of the scheme: a Transport Assessment is required where the development calls for detailed assessment, including modelling of its traffic impact on the local highway network.

A typical assessment covers:

  • local highway conditions around the site
  • relevant transport policy
  • options for sustainable travel
  • the development proposals, including access for all users
  • trip generation, using the TRICS database or a first-principles approach
  • impact analysis and traffic modelling, where required
  • any mitigation needed

In London, we prepare Healthy Streets Transport Assessments, which Transport for London requires for developments above a certain size. These add more detailed collision analysis in line with TfL’s Vision Zero approach and an assessment of the local Active Travel Zone, and include a framework Travel Plan, a delivery and servicing chapter and a framework Construction Logistics Plan.
