Drainage strategies
Odyssey prepares foul and surface water drainage strategies to support development proposals. Each strategy demonstrates that the site can be drained sustainably, in line with local and national policy.
Surface water runoff is kept at or below greenfield rates. We carry out the drainage calculations to show that runoff is managed and treated properly, so that flood risk downstream is not increased.
For foul water, we establish pipe sizes, gradients and connection points to existing sewers, and agree these with the statutory undertaker. A gravity solution is usually preferred, but we advise on alternatives such as an on-site pumping station where one is needed.
We take drainage from the planning stage through to detailed design, value engineering the solution and obtaining technical approval under the Sewerage Sector Guidance and Building Regulations. This includes the design of pumping stations and attenuation systems.
