Flood mitigation and compensation

Development in a floodplain, whether a new building or raised ground, takes up space that would otherwise store flood water. The Environment Agency normally requires that lost storage to be replaced, so that flood risk is not made worse for others.

Odyssey specialises in flood mitigation and floodplain compensation. We assess the options for a site and design compensation that replaces storage on a like-for-like basis, keeping the floodplain free to flood and drain.

We carry out all of the ground modelling and calculations needed, and present them to the Environment Agency for approval.
